September is National Preparedness Month: Are You Ready?

Taking time this month to prepare your household can make a significant difference during severe weather events, extended power outages, or other emergencies. Preparedness isn't about expecting the worst. It's about being ready for whatever comes your way.

Do you need an address sign?

This is paragraph text. Click it or hit the Manage Text button to change the font, color, size, format, and more. To set up site-wide paragraph and title styles, go to Site Theme.

Do you have a clearly marked address sign for fire and emergency services to find your location? SBCFD can make these signs for you. There is a $15 charge per sign. To request a sign, just call 979-703-1202, and please leave a message if no one answers.

From the Chief

Welcome to the September issue of the SBCFD News! As we move into a new season, we're glad you're here and staying connected with everything happening in our community.

First, I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our last 5th Tuesday Community Gathering in June. We had a fantastic turnout and truly appreciated the opportunity to meet new neighbors, reconnect with familiar faces, and enjoy an evening together. Events like these strengthen the connection between our department and the community we proudly serve. We look forward to seeing everyone again at this month's 5th Tuesday event and hope you'll join us for another great evening of fellowship and conversation.

As we continue through these hot, dry conditions, I also want to encourage everyone to stay vigilant about fire safety. Before burning outdoors, please check local burn restrictions, test your smoke alarms regularly, and make sure everyone in your household knows at least two ways out in an emergency. During times like these, a small spark can quickly become a serious fire. A few simple precautions can make all the difference.

As always, thank you for your continued support of SBCFD. We are honored to serve this community and appreciate the partnership we share in making Brazos County a safer place for everyone.

Go Digital and Help Us Stay Connected

Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter and for staying connected with your fire department. As we look for ways to reduce printing and mailing costs while continuing to keep our community informed, we encourage residents to opt in to our digital newsletter. Just visit our website and click on the Sign Up For Alerts link at the top of the home page.

By going digital, you'll help save taxpayer dollars and receive more timely updates. Our printed newsletter is mailed quarterly, but digital subscribers receive monthly updates with the latest department news, projects, events, and announcements.

If you're currently receiving both the printed and digital versions, please consider switching to digital-only. Together, we can reduce costs, improve communication, and stay better connected to our community.
